Let’s take a look at the popular Pilot Custom 74 fountain pen!
Pilot Custom 74
The Pilot Custom 74 is another great pen by Pilot, especially for anyone who loves clear pens. This is a simple, sophisticated fountain pen with a minimalist design, and a clear cap and barrel. There are five different colors, including clear, black smoke, violet, orange, and blue.
Each pen has a dark, smokey finial, end plug, and section, and the color of the pen is found on the cap and barrel. This matches nicely if you collect all five! The pens are well-made, with solid, practical clips, and comfortable bodies. In hand, these are large enough that they can be used unposted if you prefer, but the cap posts very securely, giving them a good balance and length.
The nibs are available in fine and medium, and like other Pilot nibs, are reliable, pleasant, smooth writers. These are rhodium-plated, 14KT gold nibs that run on the finer side. If you like very fine writers, select a fine nib, or if you prefer a ‘normal’ writer, a medium is a better choice.
These take converters, and fortunately, they come with the flagship push-button CON70 converter, which holds a fair amount of ink. They’re wider and taller than the other Pilot converters. You can also use Pilot ink cartridges.
