Pilot Stargazer Fountain Pens

Let’s take a look at the Pilot Stargazer fountain pens, also known as the Stella 90S on the Japanese market.

Pilot Stargazer

There are four lacquered colors to choose from: white, red, blue, and black. They are classy, attractive pens, and each has a pearlescent finish, adding some depth to the colors. That glittering, pearlescent effect hints at the Stargazer name, doesn’t it?

These are solid, well-made pens that are on the smaller side, making them more compact than other Pilot pens like the Custom 823. Despite their size, they feel great in hand because of the brass base in the body. The cap closes by friction, so it’s quick to grab, uncap, and write with. Those with smaller hands can use this pen unposted, and the weight is very pleasant. For those with larger hands, or if you like to post your cap, the cap posts securely – perfect for longer writing sessions, too.

The Pilot Stargazer comes with a #3 fine or medium nib, both of which run on the finer side (as Japanese nibs do). If you like really fine lines, the fine nib might by for you. If you aren’t sure, and want a safe starting ground, it’s probably better to start with the medium. These are reliable, smooth, rhodium-plated 14KT gold nibs – the perfect fit for these pens.
