Don’t worry, it’s ok to get a little self-absorbed when Bungubox Dandyism is in your pen.

Rejoice! Bungubox inks are finally available in the US directly from Sailor. These inks are prized for their properties and colors, and today we’ll be taking a closer look at the rich forest green of Dandyism. Bungubox inks come in the same round and squat bottles as Sailor inks, and have the same plastic insert to assist in filling when the bottle gets low. The box is a cube that is beautifully printed with the Bungubox logo and fancy scroll work. These inks are not cheap at $43 for a 50ml bottle, but I’ll let you be the judge if the product justifies the price. This review was done with a Sailor Pro Gear F, Lamy Safari B and on Rhodia blank No. 18 Paper.

Dandyism is a richly saturated ink that has a similar appearance in both a fine and broad nib. The lightest green that the ink produces is a dark piney juniper. The overall appearance of the ink is nearly black, and only on closer inspection does the green become apparent. The ink can produce some sheen but you’re not going to get any with normal writing.

If ever you have a pen with flow problems then Bungubox inks are the solution. Dandyism had excellent flow with no feathering or bleedthrough on Rhodia paper. It’s a highly saturated ink and has higher dry times and low shading because of it. The ink isn’t water resistant but it is still possible to make out what was originally written.

Dandyism is a dark ink which has its pros and cons. It’s so dark that I think that you would be able to get away with using it at work. I can also see how some people would be adverse to spending so much money on an ink that doesn’t have a unique pop of color. Price aside, I think it’s a great understated color that works beautifully in one’s pen.

As with any ink review, the pen, paper, and person doing the writing will influence the way the ink looks. If you’re not sure about a color, try a sample to see if it’s the one for you.

Ink it Up!
