Robert Oster Signature Tranquility
Tranquility is one of 47 Robert Oster Signature inks newly available at Anderson Pens.
Robert Oster inks are produced in Australia by Mr. Oster himself. The ink comes in a sturdy 50ml plastic bottle, with a handy label on the cap showcasing the ink color name and a small ink swab.
Tranquility is a beautiful teal color that eases the senses and makes writing a little bit more relaxing. This review was done with a Lamy AL-Star F, Noodler’s Konrad with an Anderson Pens B nib, and on Rhodia blank no.18 paper.
I have an affinity for teal inks – I’ve tried nearly every one we have in the store – and while that might seem like I have a bias, it also means I have very high standards. That being said Tranquility is a beautifully colored ink, and a great behaving one.
Tranquility is a complex color that differs considerably depending on the nib size and how wet ones pen is. In a fine nib the color is a Tiffany blue that shades to a more traditional teal. A broad nib brings out the color that I love. The lighter areas still have a softer robins egg color, but it shades to a rich deep teal that has strong green tones. With a wet enough nib you can also achieve some gorgeous red sheening that pairs beautifully with the deep teal color.
Tranquility has great flow, low feathering and no bleedthrough on Rhodia paper. Saturation was moderate but that led to a nice amount of shading. Dry times were around 20-40 seconds, and the ink was not at all water resistant.
If you enjoy teal inks then Tranquility is a must try. You can probably get away using it in the workplace. It’s a beautiful and fun color to use for everyday jounaling and writing.
As with any ink review, the pen, paper and person doing the writing will influence the way the ink looks. If you’re not sure about a color, try a sample to see if it’s the color for you.
Ink it Up!
