Today we talk about the Ecridor series of pens from Caran d’Ache. To many, Caran d’Ache may not be a household name, but they have been in business since 1915 when they started making pencils in Switzerland. The Ecridor is available in Fountain, Rollerball, and Ballpoint versions and in three different finishes, the Chevron, the Cubrik, and the Retro. Each model has a different guilloche pattern on a hexagonal body which is then silver plated and rhodium coated.
Caran d’Ache Ecridor Cubrik
The clips have a nice springiness to them and it makes it easy to put into your pocket with little effort. The top of the cap has the Caran d’Ache name and “Swiss Made” engraved into them. The Ballpoint utilizes a button mechanism and has a nice solid feel to it. The rollerball and fountain pen have a snap cap that has a nice satisfying “click” to them when closed. They post on the small back end of the barrel.

The fountain and rollerball pen are 5-5/16″ long capped, have a barrel length of 4-11/16″ and are 6-9/16″ long posted. The barrel diameter is approximately 7/16″ and between 4/16″ and 3/8″ at the tapered front section. They have a nice weight to them and are reasonably slender in size.

The nib is stainless steel and rhodium coated with the Caran d’Ache logo on it. They are good writers and very smooth.

The pen uses an international sized cartridge converter and the converter is included. Both short and long international cartridge will fit inside the barrel.
