These Sailor 1911 Standard Maki e fountain pens feature 14KT gold nibs with 24KT gold-plated trim. ‘MAKI–E’ is a highly respected traditional Japanese hand-applied decoration process with more than 1500 years of history, regarded as the ultimate Japanese decorative craft on many different materials. Not only is it an exquisite, time consuming technique, precious materials such as gold, silver, enamel, and abalone shell are combined and applied by hand by specialized accredited MAKI-E artists, with traditional Urushi lacquers to represent a variety of traditional Japanese art, and culture. These very traditional Kaga-Maki-e techniques can only be applied by truly experienced Japanese craftsman who have historical family skills and pride, who have trained for many years to learn such traditional art forms and true craftsmanship.
Kaga-Maki-e Fountain Pen – Fuji
The Fuji design features a rich black resin body of each Sailor 1911 Maki-e pen creates an elegant canvas on which the delicate design comes to life. Art on this fountain pen is created by the fourth-generation Kaga Maki-e artist, Kosen Ohshita. Mount Fuji is shown depicted on the cap, with sailboats on the barrel.
Kaga-Maki-e Fountain Pen – Maiko
The clean white resin body of the Maiko pen creates an elegant canvas on which the delicate design comes to life. Art on this fountain pen is created by the fourth-generation Kaga Maki-e artist, Kosen Ohshita. A colorful Maiko Dancer is shown depicted on the barrel, with small fans shown on the cap.
Kaga-Maki-e Fountain Pen – Momiji
The deep navy blue resin body of the Momiji creates an elegant canvas on which the delicate design comes to life. Art on this fountain pen is created by the fourth-generation Kaga Maki-e artist, Kosen Ohshita. Autumn leaves are depicted on both the cap and the barrel.
