The Faber-Castell Grip 2011 series of Mechanical Pencils and Ballpoints brings about a nice selection of inexpensive, fun colored writing instruments for school.
These are available in a number of bright colors:
- Grass Green – A color not to be missed
- Pink – It really jumps out at you
- Violet – A lovely dark violet color
- Teal – My personal favorite
- White – More of a pearl ivory color
- Silver – A more conservative version of these writing instruments
The Pencil uses a 0.7 mm lead and features a retractible tip, an excellent feature which slides the tip back into the barrel when not in use, preventing accidental damage to both the tip and your clothing. You can extend the eraser by removing the end cap and rotating the housing, and pulling the eraser housing allows for replacing leads. The pencil is also marked “0.7” next to the imprint to differentiate it from the matching ballpoint. Three leads accompany the pencil.
The Ballpoint uses standard Parker style refills and includes a Blue Medium refill. The nose cone easily unscrews to reveal the spring and the refill.
The Grip 2011 features an ergonomic triangular shaped barrel with a non-slip grip. Color matched rubber dimples dot the length of the barrel from nose cone to clip. The clip is nice and tight, but upturned at the end to allow for easy entry and exit in your shirt or pants pocket.
The colors are fun and won’t be easily lost in a purse, backpack, or briefcase, and the Grip 2011 is inexpensively priced and perfect for the start of school. A good value and well made pen and pencil!
