Pen Shows: Ohio Pen Show Wish List

With the Ohio show just around the corner, it’s time for one of my favorite types of posts.  The Wish List!  This continuously inspires me to keep looking for interesting vintage pens, and every once in a while I get to actually cross one off the list.  I’m thinking I’m going to be lucky this time around too!

Ohio is a strong vintage show, so I need to have a wide variety of items on the list.  chances are good I will find many of these items, but finding them at the right price is key.  I’m going to cheat a bit this time, since the Auction listing has just gone up on the Ohio Pen Show website, but I cannot be guaranteed to get any of the auction items.  One never knows!

Aikin Lambert  safety – No need to talk much about this as I’ve mentioned it before.  Still looking for one.  Regular size preferrably, but will take a small ladies sized pen if that’s my only option.

Waterman 454 Moderne – Also know to collectors as the “Night & Day” overlay, there will be two of these Sterling silver overlays in the Saturday night auction.

John Holland Saddle Filler – A unique filling mechanism by John Holland whereby you pull up on the “saddle” to compress the sac in a reverse fashion of a regular pressure bar situation.

Taper Cap eyedropper – Any brand in good condition of high quality.  I think these are just beautiful.  Extra bonus points for one with an overfeed on the nib, which is often times the case with these.

Wirt – High quality pens which I’ve taken a liking to over the years.  Since Lisa gave me one for our anniversary, and since I picked up a lovely filigree overlay earlier this year in Raleigh, the brand has really sparked my interest.  There will be several to choose from in Columbus.

Another MHR eyedropper – Another wide open category here.  That Wirt Lisa just gave me is superb, and I could see a few more mottled hard rubber eyedropper pens in my collection.  A little color would really spruce up the pen tray!

For Lisa she’s looking for:

“Any Sheaffer Lady Skripsert that I don’t have.” – This is a tough nut to crack, she has a fine collection of them already, most with matching pencils.  I carry pictures of them on my phone, but will need to update these before we leave with better pictures.

“Aurora 75th anniversary pen” – Well, we’ll see about this one!  Somewhat hard to find, but doable.  If it’s a good show and one is available at a decent price Lisa may get her wish!

“Any S.T. Dupont that catches my eye – I have a mini collection of 1.” – Ok, so maybe that’s not really a collection, but finding the slender S.T. Dupont pens Lisa likes is not as easy as it sounds!

“Any Montblanc that doesn’t look like a Montblanc, to help grow my very small collection. I’m a reverse Montblanc snob.” – We are both fans of the 1960’s-1970’s pens that are slender piston fillers.

“Vintage Pelikans – Anything with a nice nib in fine, that won’t cost me an arm & a leg.” – There will be plenty of dealers in Columbus with a fine selection of Pelikan pens.  Our good friend Francis Bulbulian always has a wonderful assortment of them available for sale.  A Christmas gift perhaps?

Stay tuned to see how well we do in Columbus!

Cheers!
