Bungubox Zodiac Gemini
Bungubox Gemini is an ink so nice you’ll need it twice.
Bungubox has released a series of limited edition inks named after the Zodiac. The inks originated in Japan, but we’ve been lucky enough to get some brought over. At the Bungubox stores in Japan, you can buy a matching Pro Gear mini with the inks, but sadly those are not available internationally. Gemini is a beautiful tiffany blue that has all the great properties of Bungubox ink. The ink comes in Sailor’s new 20ml glass bottle. This review was done with a Sailor 1911L F, Visconti Breeze M and on Rhodia blank No.18 paper.
Gemini is on the lighter side of blue but is easily legible in a fine nib. The ink is a Tiffany box blue that is the perfect match for the Sailor 1911 Fresca. The lightest the ink gets is an arctic blue. From there, the ink shades to traditional sky blue before ending in a darker cerulean blue. The ink is matte in appearance and doesn’t display any sheen on Rhodia paper.
As is the case with any Bungubox ink, Gemini behaved wonderfully. The ink had excellent flow, with good dry times at 20-30 seconds. There was no feathering or bleedthrough on Rhodia paper. While the ink had no water resistance, clean up was easy.
It’s always a treat to get hold of some of these harder-to-find limited edition inks. Gemini defiantly distinguishes itself from Bungubox’s June Bride Something Blue, which is greener than this ink. If you want an ink in this color family with excellent flow, then there is nothing better than Gemini.
As with any ink review, the pen, paper, and person doing the writing will influence the way the ink looks. Due to their small bottle size and limited availability, Bungubox Zodiac inks will only be available in bottles.
