Iroshizuku Tsutsuji is a punchy pink that pops off the page! It comes in a unique and sizeable 50ml bottle with a dip in the bottom to make refilling easy even when the ink runs low. This review was done with a Pilot Metropolitan F, Lamy Safari B, and on Rhodia blank No. 18 paper.

Tsutsuji translates to azalea, and the color of this ink perfectly represents the flowers of its namesake. While its range of shading is not terribly vast, you can still achieve a bit of variety. As it shades, it begins to lean slightly warmer. This is seen clearly when you look at this ink in a fine and broad nib. The color stays consistently lighter and pinker in a fine nib, while straying a bit darker and redder in a broad.

Iroshizuku Tsutsuji has good flow, low feathering and bleedthrough, and a shockingly quick dry time of 5 to 15 seconds! While it has low water resistance, you can still read a hint of the text and the water leaves behind floral-looking patterns on the page. Clean up was surprisingly easy considering how electric this color is!

As with any ink review, the pen, paper, and person doing the writing will influence the way the ink looks. If you’re not sure about a color, try a sample to see if it’s the one for you.
