Monteverde Wisdom Purple
We’re hootin’ and hollerin’ over Monteverde Wisdom Purple.
Last year, Monteverde came out with the “Emotions” line of ink. The collection is a full rainbow of colors, but Wisdom Purple is a real standout. The rich eggplant purple behaves well and looks great. Monteverde ink comes in a 30ml glass rectangular bottle, and is extremely well-priced considering the quality of the ink. This review was done with a Pilot Metropolitan F, Monteverde Prima B and on Rhodia blank No.18 paper.
Wisdom Purple is a fairly saturated ink, and appears the same in a fine and broad nib with minimal shading. At its lightest, the ink is an amethyst color before shading into darker grape violets. The overall appearance of the ink is a dark eggplant. The ink can produce a gorgeous green sheen, but you’ll only achieve it on papers like Tomoe River.
Monteverde inks are well-behaved, and this rich purple is wise to follow that trend. The ink has good flow, with no feathering or bleedthrough on Rhodia paper. Dry times are good at 25-30 seconds. While the ink doesn’t have any water resistance, it’s very easy to clean.
You don’t have to be all that wise to see that Wisdom Purple is a great ink. It’s a beautiful color that can dazzle with some sheen delight you with its easy-writing properties.
As with any ink review, the pen, paper, and person doing the writing will influence the way the ink looks. If you’re not sure about a color, try a sample to see if it’s the one for you.
Ink it Up!
