Admire the imperial majesty of Pelikan Edelstein Jade.
Pelikan Edelstein Jade is a lovely cool green ink. Pelikan Edelstein is made in Germany and comes in a 50ml glass bottle that is pretty enough for a desk display piece! The larger base also makes it a worry-free bottle from which to fill. This review was done with a Pilot Metropolitan F, Lamy Safari B, and on Rhodia blank No. 18 paper.
The German word Edelstein translates into English as gemstone, and each color is inspired by the beautiful gems we can find in the earth. Pelikan Edelstein Jade perfectly matches its namesake in its appeal and has just enough shading to really stand apart from similar greens. A fine nib tends to show off the lighter tones while a broad nib brings out the deeper shades.
Pelikan really surprised me with the dry time of this ink, coming in at an average of 10-20 seconds. It dries fast, but has absolutely zero water resistance, though adding water does leave a really nice pastel green color behind. With very easy cleanup, good flow, and no feathering or bleedthrough, the quality of Pelikan Edelstein Jade is clear.
This was my first experience with Pelikan Edelstein inks and I was certainly not disappointed! Pelikan Edelstein Jade is an ink that stands apart from the crowd without being overly distracting. This ink makes a wonderful addition to any collection.
As with any ink review, the pen, paper, and person doing the writing will influence the way the ink looks. If you’re not sure about a color, try a sample to see if it’s the one for you.
Ink it Up!
