As promised, the first batch of vintage Esterbrook J series pens has made their way on to the website. To start, there are two of each color J, and one of each color LJ and SJ. For those unfamiliar with the Esterbrook brand, they were one of the more popular “every man’s pen” in the 1930’s through the 1950’s. Esterbrook was famous for it’s removable steel nib, available in as many as 32 different point styles, callted the “renew-point”. The model J, initially launched in 1941 as the Visumaster (now a fairly hard to find pen and a highlight of many pen collections), went through a series of changes to finally rest on what we know refer to as the “double jewel J”, ca. 1947. The series issued three sizes, the full size J, easily identifiable by it’s larger cap jewel, the LJ, full length, but slender, and the SJ, shorter and slender. All are lever filling pens that fill straight from the bottle. No cartridges or converters for these!

Some of you may remember me mentioning we had a number of Esterbrook to restore. A week ago we went through and sorted them all out and now I am slowly working on them.
