InCoWriMo 2016 – Ready to Write?

February means it’s InCoWriMo 2016! Are you ready?

InCoWriMo 2016:

International Correspondence Writing Month

Another year, another InCoWriMo: every year, InCoWriMo begins on February 1st, which is now!

InCoWriMo 2016

With an obvious nod to NaNoWriMo for the inspiration, InCoWriMo challenges you to hand-write and mail/deliver one letter, card, note or postcard every day during the month of February.

It’s simple. It’s fun. It’s rewarding.

Gear up for a letter a day (or two, or three, if you’re so inclined). It’s supposed to be fun! Now is the perfect time to write to that old high school friend to say hi, or to send your mom a thank-you note for taking such good care of you that time you ate too much cookie dough. Surely there is someone you’d love to connect with! What do you need?

Pens

Grab your favorite pen and put that nib to paper! If you have twenty pens inked, writing letters is perfect: you’ll empty those pens, and you’ll make someone smile.

A Lamy Safari is a trusty pen – reliable, quite robust, and available in a variety of colors. Pick up a fountain pen with your nib of choice, and a matching ballpoint. Be careful though, it’s tempting to collect these ones.

A Noodler’s flex pen has a flexible steel nib that is fun to play with. Doodle on your letters, hand letter a name!

The very attractive Conklin Duragraph pens pack a lot of pretty in the pen! Take your pick of nibs and three different finishes –  the stub is really nice to use. Matching ballpoints, too, if you have to matchy matchy.

Use a broad, italic, or stub nib for some extra character in your writing – you can address your letters or sign off with them! Pilot Parallel Calligraphy Pens are affordable, come in four different nib sizes, are easy to disassemble and clean, and are so fun to write with.

Ink

Try out inks you rarely use, or aren’t allowed to use at work – maybe they’re not work appropriate, maybe they’re not waterproof. Whatever the reason, try a variety of inks, try out samples, use up those samples, mix your own colors, have fun! It is InCoWriMo 2016, after all. InkOWriMo, perhaps?

Diamine’s Shimmertastic inks will put some serious shimmer in your letters. You can also try out J. Herbin’s Anniversary inks for the same effect.
